Bernie Poppe presented his Member Moment at Lincoln South Rotary Club on June 15.
Bernie first joined Rotary in Mankato Minnesota. While in Shawnee Kansas he helped start a Rotary Club there as a Charter Member. Upon moving to Lincoln he walked in to Lincoln South Rotary and knew it was a fit for him (and we knew we would really like having him in our Club)!
He has been married for 56 years to Roberta and moved back to Lincoln to be close to family. They have 2 children - Brian is a landscape artist and Linda is President of Member's Own Credit Union. There are 2 grandchildren - Jack and Claire.
What he really likes about Rotary is that the organization is well respected and it provides an opportunity to be part of something bigger then yourself. Rotary is a chance to provide service locally, nationally and even internationally.
He is from Chester, Nebraska - home of 6-man football and Little Boy Blue.
