David Harring is the Executive Director for the Lincoln Airport Authority. On September 23 he will be at LIncoln South Rotary to update us on numerous items - Air Service, Climate, Airshow Update and Drone Regulations.
The Annual Dictionary Project is coming up soon. With this project the Rotary Clubs in Lincoln join together to deliver dictionaries to every 4th grade student in Lincoln – public, perochial and privately tutored students.
It will start with a packaging event on October 4. Delivery to the schools is done by Rotarians individually or in pairs. We do a short presentation about the books, the importance of literacy, and Rotary. See Clay Ehlers for more information.
The UNL Rotaract Club has an ongoing project to create unique new crayons out of old used crayons. These will be donated to refugee families. Your donation of used crayons will be melted down and reformed.
Dave Dietz shared his thoughts about one of the projects that he learned about at the recent Rotary District Conference. He was impressed with the work of Rajia Jan and the obstacles tht she overcame to provide a school for girls in Kabul Afghanistan. He said that a student can be sponsored for as little as $600 per year. He is hoping to inspire Rotarians to consider supporting this effort.
